Dr Richard A Ward

Dr Ward originally trained as a surgeon and is a family man with three children.
Special interests: skin/minor surgery, diabetes, kidney disease.
Dr Kathryn Jones

I qualified from The University of Bristol in 2009 and have worked locally at the Royal United Hospital, Great Western Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal. I completed my GP training in 2014 and have been at The Chipping Surgery ever since.
I value the variety of general practice and the opportunity to get to know patients and their families. I have completed additional qualifications in women’s health and family planning and fit contraceptive coils and implants. I also have an interest in child health.
I am involved in medical education and am a GP trainer, providing supervision to the Foundation trainees and GP registrars. Outside of work I volunteer with a dog rescue and enjoy spending time with friends and family.
Dr Sarah Wade
BMBS BMedSc MRCGP
I qualified from the University of Southampton in 2016 and spent my junior doctor years in Kent. I moved to Gloucestershire in 2018 and completed GP training in 2021. I enjoy the personalised care that general practice can provide and have a particular interest in women’s health. I am also lead GP for safeguarding children and learning disability.
Outside work I enjoy spending time sewing, walking in the beautiful local countryside with my husband, and singing with a local choir.

Dr Christine L Thompson
MB ChB (1986) DRCOG DFSRH
I moved from Northern Ireland in 1981 to attend Bristol University qualifying in 1986. After house jobs in Torquay and Frenchay and a spell of infectious disease medicine at Ham Green Hospital in Bristol I did GP training in Bath and I became a partner at the surgery in 1996 but have lived in the area since 1987.
I have a passion about good quality contraceptive advice and fit coils and implants. I am responsible for personnel at the surgery. I am a clinical supervisor which involves mentoring our junior doctors in training as well as looking after the many medical students that we have. I am an honorary teacher at Bristol University. I am married and have four children and two dogs which keeps me busy outside work but I also love running and cooking!

Dr Rachael S Hampson
MA MB ChB (1991) MRCGP DRCOG
I trained at Cambridge University and Addenbrookes Hospital, qualifying in 1994. After working as a junior doctor in and around Cambridgeshire I decided to return to my roots in the South West.
I have a special interest in care of the elderly. I am married with three grown up children. I love walking , gardening and travel.
Dr Mark Vogan
MBChB
I qualified from The University of Manchester in 2005 and did both my junior doctor years and GP training in Stockport. At the end of my GP training in 2010, I moved back to the Bristol area and have worked in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire until joining the Chipping Surgery team in 2021.
Outside of work I enjoy the outdoors with my wife and children whether that is walking, biking or off road running.
Dr Celia Pilmer
I qualified from Leeds School of Medicine in 2006 and stayed on for my foundation years in West Yorkshire with an extended year out in between to work in Australia and travel. I then went on to complete by GP training in Leeds in 2012.
On qualifying as a GP I moved to London and spent 4 years working in a busy inner city practice. I then relocated to Sydney and worked as a GP for 2 years before moving back to the UK in 2018 to be nearer family. I started working at a practice in Wiltshire initially but have recently joined the Chipping Surgery which is now closer to home. I enjoy the diversity that general practice offers and take a holistic approach to patient care.
Outside of work I enjoy cycling with my husband around the Cotswold hills, cooking and travel.
Dr Kate Long
BSc MSc MBChB MRCGP (2023)
I did my first degree in physics, worked as a research scientist, and then decided on a career change to medicine. I qualified from University of Warwick and did my foundation years and GP training in Gloucestershire.
I live in Tetbury with my partner and our three young children. I enjoy all aspects of general practice.
Outside of work I enjoy cycling with my husband around the Cotswold hills, cooking and travel.
Dr Sophie Pritchard – currently on maternity leave

I qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2013. I spent several years working in private cancer care, firstly at The Christie in Manchester and latterly at the University College Hospital in London. I started my GP training in East London and have worked as a GP in Bolton for 3 years.
In my spare time I enjoy doing pottery and I also enjoy exploring the Lake District and local countryside with my husband and Labrador.
